The center of advanced computational engineering and science (CACES) integrates the strength of individual faculty members in computation, modeling, and opti-mization to solve challenging engineering and scientific problems. The center currently has three research focuses, including
- multiscale (atomic-meso-marco) simulation in solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer,
- accelerating computation-demanding applications using GPU, FPGA, or heterogeneous architecture,
- engineering design and optimization in energy harvesting and conversion.
The center also provides the computation, modeling, and optimization support for experi-mentalist to enhance the theoretical understanding of experimental results and better design of experiments.
